superbowl night

i cooked yesterday afternoon: i used some of the wine i bought to cook the meat i had left int the fridge and some spices. afert that i decide to get some rest and suddenly i felt asleep. i woke up in a while and i realized that something was missed: the event of the day!! i went watching the last part of the superbowl: giants won IT. After the match i run home, grabbed my camera and went out again: maybe i could get some good pictures, that was my thought. i was on the train without my book as i i hurried up to jump out of my apt as i decided the task. on the train i tried to find out a place where people could probably meet up to celebrate, and i started with lower east side, west village, midtown, uptown, downtown, chinatown......
finally i decided: times square. i thought ESPN place could be a good one as probably lot of people watched match there. Got off the train, went upstairs and......NOTHING. people were not there: few of them jumping and singing that's it: some cars were passing by honking. i waited, thinking that maybe they'd show up soon, while policemen where barricadind broadway in case of...nothing.
i missed Rome when they won the league!!!!
i decided to move back to somewhere else and again the same question: where? i did not want to go to any suburb even if i knew there could be more spontaneous free euphoria in there. i umped again on the train and this time i tried to figure it out: need a place with log of bars where people could easy go to watch a match and stay there for a while to keep drinking and jumping like stupid monkeys. no the lower east side, maybe around the nyu but i wanted something older...again the suburbs were the solution to my dilemma but i did not want. Greenwich village could be a place: lot of bars. i decided to try there. took the red line and got off at Christopher street and with unexpected surprise(which is unexpected by itself) i noticed that nobody was there. NOBODY AT ALL, neither honking cars passing by....sadness!
i put my camera back in its case an i walked around for a while dis-enjoying the fact that nobody was celebrating! after a while i found a place saying "live jazz all the night" and i decided to enter. wonder how many people were in there...8 people: 3 musicians , 2 waitresses and 3 costumers, all of them sitting by the bar. i felt like in a bad dream, maybe some divine conspiracy... the men were playing some blues. i waited 40 seconds, standing next to the bar, deciding what to do. i decided to stay, i asked for a beer (only in bottles) and i sat at one of the 10 empty tables and i listened at the music for a while. In ten minutes they stopped playing, had a break and asked for the tip: their bowl was sooooo empty, i contributed as less as i could :)
nobody was really there for the match, neither for the music even if the band tried to celebrate the victory singing "we are the champions", but the singer, leader of the group and bass player, got a really bad high note that he had to stop singing and started mumbling.
i finished my beer and i was about to leave when a black lady, friend of the waitresses, joined the gathering. she knew everyone in the bar, which i could imagine is not that hard and after laud greeting everyone, went to the band's leader asking for the scratchy song first and her preferred song then.
well i don't know if the scratchy song is a real song or not, was just a blues, but nice; her preferred song was "black magic woman", and she performed kind of a dance in front of the stage on a song played only for her: she deserved it!! In the last minutes new people entered: 2 guys who decided to run away immediately and 3 cute 18-years-old looking girls who sat on a table. The waitress asked them for the picture id, unlike she did with me, and i smiled looking at her face, who was thinking maybe that they were all fake ids! they got their beers and the seemed even younger than 18!
after that i decided to leave the bar: there were enough people to replace me.
i walked to the train, stopped by a daily to get some chocolate, and went home just in time to...sleep.
